Vivian unable to look at his face started stare at the ceiling. In her mind, she was thinking and wondering at how best to know, understand and be acquainted with her husband.

``Are you alright?,`` he asked as he made his way to the rest room. As he did not get any response from her, he glanced back. Vivian caught his eyes and answered hastily, coming out of her stupor.

Vivian managed to have her bath, tried to catch some sleep. As soon as she put her head on the pillow, the door bell rang. Who was it? Her husband‘s family members who came to say hello to her. Vivian greeted the visitor but with less enthusiasm due to the fact that she was tired. From her part of the world, culture plays a very important part in marriage.

The look on her face wasn’t welcoming and this particular family member picked offence and was convinced that she was a bad woman with the tendency of not making a good wife. She discovered this when her sister in-law gave her a piece of her mind and that she accused of being snobbish.

As days went by, Vivian was trying so hard to study the man she married but got confused the more as the situation was, `the more you look the less you see and understand.` Her husband was ready to go back to work after taking a few days off to be with her and show her things round the flat. The DOS and DONTS were also explained and made clear to her. One of the most baffling ones was never to open the door when there is a knock. She took it that she was new in the country and needed the orientation. She was actually warned of a particular friend of her husband whom he never trusted and if at any point in time he comes around he should be told to come back later that, `Am not in.`

Vivian stood and paced across the porch but little did she know that she was to do more pacing and a lot of surprises in stock for her. Lets leave it here until next week.
