Vivian stood and paced across the porch. Then, she leaned against the railings, and gazed at the wall. `And why is that,` she asked. I just don’t trust him and that is my order and it is final. She asked him why kept such friend you did not trust. At this point, he picked up his mobile phone, `I am heading to a meeting. I will be back soon.
She asked, `What time?` And he answered that it will be around ten pm. He showed her his phone and that he will be on it incase she will need him and ended with `Ok?` She answered with yes Honey. Hooray! she exclaimed. At last she has a name to call her husband.
Mark came back late at night Vivian was already deeply asleep. He was in the mood of dot dot dot but she was not up to it. The attitude made him to raise his voice,` I am your husband! I married you, and I will do with you as I like. She was so terrified as she has never been raised a voice upon. With fear trembling, she submitted totally to him.
Vivian needed some time to get to know the man she got to married, looking away with tears rolling down her cheeks, she tried as much as she could in- order not to disobey Mark`s rules. Her opinion and feelings did not matter.
Being new to the environment and with no friends, she was crying and sobbing internally but careful at the same time because, she was dead scared and did not want to be screamed at at that time of the night. She prayed and tried to remain calm.
What do you think happened next? Look out for the next part.

Vivian unable to look at his face started stare at the ceiling. In her mind, she was thinking and wondering at how best to know, understand and be acquainted with her husband.
``Are you alright?,`` he asked as he made his way to the rest room. As he did not get any response from her, he glanced back. Vivian caught his eyes and answered hastily, coming out of her stupor.
Vivian managed to have her bath, tried to catch some sleep. As soon as she put her head on the pillow, the door bell rang. Who was it? Her husband‘s family members who came to say hello to her. Vivian greeted the visitor but with less enthusiasm due to the fact that she was tired. From her part of the world, culture plays a very important part in marriage.
The look on her face wasn’t welcoming and this particular family member picked offence and was convinced that she was a bad woman with the tendency of not making a good wife. She discovered this when her sister in-law gave her a piece of her mind and that she accused of being snobbish.
As days went by, Vivian was trying so hard to study the man she married but got confused the more as the situation was, `the more you look the less you see and understand.` Her husband was ready to go back to work after taking a few days off to be with her and show her things round the flat. The DOS and DONTS were also explained and made clear to her. One of the most baffling ones was never to open the door when there is a knock. She took it that she was new in the country and needed the orientation. She was actually warned of a particular friend of her husband whom he never trusted and if at any point in time he comes around he should be told to come back later that, `Am not in.`
Vivian stood and paced across the porch but little did she know that she was to do more pacing and a lot of surprises in stock for her. Lets leave it here until next week.
